Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment

Haberdasher’s Abraham Darby is committed to safeguarding, protecting and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All teachers and support staff are accountable for the way in which they exercise authority, manage risk, use resources and protect pupils from discrimination and avoidable harm.  All staff, whether paid or voluntary, have a duty to keep young people safe and to protect them from physical harm.  When an individual accepts a role that involves working with children and young people they need to understand and acknowledge that the responsibilities and trust are inherent in that role.

All posts working with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check (including a check of the Children’s Barred List) and through pre-employment safer recruitment checks. On-line checks will be carried out on all shortlisted candidates and all shortlisted candidates will be required to complete and submit a criminal self-disclosure form prior to interview. All applicants need to have the Right to Work in the UK to be considered for the role. ID checks (including photographic) will be carried out at the interview stage.  References will be taken up prior to interview. Any offer of employment is conditional upon certain conditions which will be outlined in the offer letter.  All new staff are expected to undertake mandatory training: safeguarding, online safety and prevent prior to their employment start date.

For existing staff, the DBS will be renewed every 5 years, and all staff are expected to sign an annual Safeguarding Declaration Form. We hold regular statutory Child Protection/Safeguarding training which all staff are required to attend (this may be outside of normal working hours).

We have a child protection and safeguarding policy in place which can be found by clicking here

Positive Mental Health – Whole School Approach

Haberdashers’ Abraham Darby aims to promote a whole-school positive approach to mental health and well-being for every member of staff and student; it is a fundamental to our values, mission and culture. We are a school that helps children flourish, learn and succeed by providing opportunities for them, and the adults around them, to develop the strengths and coping skills that underpin resilience. The Academy’s Mental Health and Well-being policy is available via the website.

KS3 Teacher - to teach SEN pupils

UPS/MPS
To access the application form and apply click here

Thank you for your interest in the KS3 Teacher post at Haberdashers’ Abraham Darby.

An increasing number of pupils are finding the transition from primary school to secondary school challenging. For some it is the move from small nurture group provision to being in a class of 15-30, for others they have arrived with extensive ‘Covid’ knowledge gaps which have been difficult to close, whilst for others it is ‘factors beyond their control’. We are therefore seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic KS3 teacher, with specific experience of teaching SEN pupils to help to bridge those gaps with focused interventions that empower pupils to successfully integrate into mainstream education.

Approximately 35% of our pupils are eligible for FSM and Pupil Premium so a desire to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people will be at the core of the successful candidate. You will be teaching elements of the KS3 curriculum to classes of Year 7 and Year 8 pupils who either have knowledge and skills gaps or who are not yet academically and emotionally secondary school ready. In addition, you will play a crucial role in helping to ensure that our pupils develop into confident young people, developing their resilience and improving their emotional well-being.

Our pupils are delightful, we are minutes away from Ironbridge Gorge and some beautiful countryside and we’d love to have you on our team. We look forward to receiving your application soon.
