Depending on specific interests, A Level English Literature and the communication skills it creates are useful in areas such as production, writing, editing, reviewing, scheduling, promoting or managing different media.
Teaching
Although careers in teaching often require additional qualifications and/or experience, an English literature A Level can be a great way to develop the academic knowledge and communication skills needed.
Law
The analytical and communication skills associated with English Literature A Level are applicable in areas such as Law and Criminology.
Marketing
Marketing executives promote products and services to the wider world. Advertising campaigns, conferences and events all require analytical and communication skills which are developed through A Level English Literature.

Do I Need An English GCSE?
You will need at least GCSE Grade 6 in both English and English Literature.
What Other Subjects Are Compatible?
English Literature is compatible with most other A Level subjects. In particular, the Performing Arts subjects such as Drama and Music have much in common with English Literature as they are all about the close study and appreciation of artistic forms.
However, Humanities subjects such as History, Geography and Religious Studies also make good partnerships with English Literature since the topics and learning styles are similar.
Furthermore, English Literature provides an interesting contrast with Maths and the Science subjects since they are of different disciplines.
