What will I study?
In psychology you will gain many desirable skills which will be beneficial when studying at university. These include data analysis, critical thinking, high level reasoning and resilience.
Psychology is a very broad subject, and although we do investigate mental health and crime, please be prepared to learn about multiple disciplines of psychology.

Linked Careers
Forensic Psychologist: As a forensic psychologist you will work with all aspects of the criminal justice system. You will be involved with investigations, legal proceedings and will help to reduce the risk of re-offending.
Mental Health Nurse: Nurses that specialise in mental health will assist in promoting and supporting an individual with various mental disorders. Such disorders include anxiety, eating disorders, schizophrenia, and addictions.
Teaching: Studying psychology will benefit aspiring teachers through theories of human development, cognition, and learning. Knowing how children learn will enable better practice in the classroom.
Counsellor: Counsellors help people to identify problems in their life, whether that is bereavement, mental health, illness, or unemployment. You will actively listen to clients, offering them respect and empathy, whilst aiming to make a positive change to their life.
Sport and exercise psychologist: Your concern as a sport and exercise psychologist will be the behaviours, mental processes and well-being of individuals, teams and organisations involved in sport and exercise. Typically, you will specialise in either sport or exercise, although some work across both fields.
How Will I Be Assessed?
At A-level there are three exams, each one accounting for a third of your qualification. Each exam is two hours long and worth 96 marks.
What Is The Difference Between BTEC and A-Level?
BTEC is the vocational option with two coursework elements and two exams. Assessments will be carried out throughout the two years. A-Level follows an examination only route which will be assessed at the end of the two years.
