Year 9 Options

What will I study?

All pupils will follow the AQA GCSE in Business across 2 years. Year 1 will focus on the fundamentals of business; looking at examples of domestic, multi-national, large, small, independent and Government owned enterprises. Later in year 1 we will consider how the Operations and Human Resource departments of a business function. This will include an in depth look at the supply chain in a variety of businesses and the opportunity to identify and develop your employability skills and create a personalised CV.

The second year of course will focus on the Marketing and Finance department of a business. We will consider how businesses develop, promote and price their products or services and also how they monitor and manage their finances to be successful.

How Will I Earn Marks For My Final Grade?

The course offers a diverse learning experience with a great deal of application to the real world. The GCSE course is assessed by 2 external exams each worth 50% of the GCSE qualification.

How Will This Subject Help Me In The Future?

You will learn many transferable skills that are vital in the world of work and valued by colleges, sixth forms and universities. Employers like business men and women because they know that they have the skills, knowledge and understanding to make a difference.

Many of our GCSE and A-Level pupils have gone on to study business or marketing at university and have enjoyed great success in this subject area. It continues to be a popular A-Level and Undergraduate degree choice.
