SEND & Inclusion
SEND & Inclusion
Supporting pupils with SEND is seen as a whole school commitment involving every member of our school community.
We’re proud of the high-quality teaching embedded in every classroom, a curriculum designed with careful consideration for our learners with SEND, our support hub that provides personalised approaches to both learning and nurture and our Pathways provision.
Our comprehensive approach ensures every learner can access engaging and challenging experiences across the curriculum, and extra-curricular and pastoral support, with increasing independence.
Pathways
THRIVE: A provision for our KS3 learners, who, due to SEMH reasons, are struggling to engage fully with the main school classroom. Pupils are taught the same curriculum by main-school teachers, but they’re taught in smaller groups with higher ratios of adult support (2:7).
ADAPT: A provision for our KS4 learners, who, for SEMH reasons, are struggling to engage fully with the main school classroom. Pupils access the provision full-time for KS4 to ensure continuity of completing their option subjects. They’re taught a broad and balanced curriculum delivered by main school teachers, with option subject qualifications selected according to pupil preference and future aspirations.

Y6 - Y7 Transition
Transition is a very important time, important for teachers and parents but most important for the child.
Most of us can remember our first day at ‘big school’ and as parents, we also remember our children starting nursery and primary school.
At Haberdashers’ Abraham Darby, we recognise that the transition for SEND learners should be especially thorough, providing additional opportunities for both the child and parents to see the school and meet key adults who will be involved with the child’s provision on their arrival.
